Experiencing Technical Difficulties

Writing this paper has been super difficult. There are just soo many aspect to high light in this story. I find Mac to be such an interesting character, his egotistic approaches to the 'awakening' of the labor strike are so masterful and devilish at the same time. What does Mac gain from all of this. We never get a clear understanding to his motive. Early on in the book your able to understand why Jim is gun-hoe about the cause and helping the 'party'. The other character that is surprising is the Doc. I feel that his character is the god complex of the story. It's interesting to me that he's not really for or against the cause, but that he like to observe, and that's why I find him to be the god complex, every good story has one. Over all, I really enjoy the story and find it super fascinating.

When it comes to writing the paper, I am having problems with narrowing down the ideas I would like to high-light. I kinda want to cover the socialist influence in the story, and comparing it with the socialist movement that was occurring during the time and the sentiment that was felt about it.

The other topic would be the similarities that this book has to today issues; such as, the Occupy Movement and the Arab Spring. It is interesting that the struggles of yesterday are still the struggles of today.

The other topic would be to comparing the influences that John Steinbeck had when writing this story and seeing how similar the Pixley Cotton strike was to his.
